After creating a design with another student's shapes, we had to, yet again use our shapes, for yet another composition. We were free to change the size and the number of pieces we used. And that was the first thing I did.
I reduced the size of all my shapes, in order to make it easier to combine them. Because I feel like the oval shape does not go well with the other shapes, I thought of using it as little as possible. At first I tried rotating the shapes to set a relation between them. And so, I connected the four trapezoids, while keeping a rhombus shape in the middle, since one of my shapes was a rhombus itself. In some of these white spaces I put my rhombuses, to create a bit of variation. Apart from the bigger white diamond shapes, there are smaller ones, created by the joining of the trapezoids.
My composition does not look very precise, as I was hastily gluing the pieces together and it is overall lacking in some aspects, especially on the edges, but I was able to grasp the rules a bit better and I can say that it is much better than my previous ones. Because I can understand it a lot better, and because I've gotten very familiar with my shapes, this assignment does not feel as daunting as it did before.
